THE TERRITORY
The olive cultivation in the Bolotana area can be described as heroic. Every task is carried out manually, presenting a significant challenge in the hilly landscape with steep slopes and dry-stone terraces. This unique territory has earned recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Bolotana is a charming village nestled among granite hills, with the Marghine mountain range towering in the background. This region is home to diverse landscapes, including forests, olive groves, springs, and numerous watercourses. The olive groves are located at elevations between 300 and 700 meters above sea level, thriving on granite soils that benefit from ideal sun exposure and weather conditions. The surrounding area is rich in archaeological sites and artifacts, offering a glimpse into human presence dating back to prehistoric times.
